Oh, yes. We programmers may seem innocuous. We may seem socially disinclined, and it may appear that we simply don’t have time for “normal” pursuits. But if you had any concept of the mental battle we fight every day…

Okay, maybe the exaggeration machine is spinning a little fast today. :) I will say that when I am programming, I must look like the most boring person alive. At least when I’m drawing or working on graphics / videos, you can see images flashing on the screen. But a big editor full of ASCII, that’s just not very impressive. Until you see magic. Or a software crash. But we don’t talk about those. :)

For all you other developers out there, extra points if you caught why I chose the particular enemy in the third frame. Some of you will wonder why I’m battling Python, instead of using it — don’t be alarmed, Python is absolutely my weapon of choice. However, like all good programming languages, you have to tame the beast before you get the most out of it. Plus, I don’t think the joke would have worked if I was hugging a big, friendly snake.

Amy actually used to dabble in programming — she has worked in C and ActionScript, as a matter of fact. But if she is brutally honest, she will admit that these days she finds a good round of Mario Kart and a few episodes of anime a more enjoyable past-time.
